Highlands Ranch is one of the largest unincorporated communities in the United States. Parks, trails, shopping areas and community spaces are sprinkled conveniently throughout the community. Residents enjoy the benefits of the four recreation centers, easy access to highways for commuting, over 60 Douglas County schools and regular community events put on by the Highlands Ranch Community Association.

Homes in Highlands Ranch can start in the $300s and go up to well over $1M. With condos, patio homes, town homes and traditional homes, Highlands Ranch offers a wide variety to buyers.

Denver Area profile: North of the city

Towns north of Denver offer a wide variety of options to buyers. With lower price ranges than some of the southern suburbs, neighborhoods north of the city are popular with new buyers. Buyers can also expect to find unique properties and even sprawling ranches priced in the millions. The northern corridor is full of retail, parks, trails and easy access to Denver.
Thornton

Located just 10 miles north of Denver, Thornton is a popular town for Denver commuters. With over 2,000 acres of parks and open space and 81 city parks, Thornton is an attractive community for families and outdoor enthusiasts. Three area school districts serve the area including Adams County, Mapleton Public Schools and Brighton School District.

Towns west of Denver are the closest to the beautiful Rocky Mountains and have always held appeal for Colorado residents. These towns can be more expensive than their northern and southern counterparts, but savvy buyers can find homes in a variety of price ranges. Many colleges make their homes in cities west of Denver such as Colorado School of Mines and the University of Colorado at Boulder so many of these areas offer young vibrancy and energy.

In our last installment of our series profiling areas around Colorado’s capitol, we focus on the neighborhoods close to or in Denver. As the population increases, areas close to Downtown continue to be popular with new comers and native Coloradoans. Most of the neighborhoods have established homes with a few areas of new builds sprinkled in. Being closer to all of the activities Denver offers is appealing for many.
